Yesterday the New York Department of Public Service; the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation; the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation; the New York State Department of Transportation; and the New York State Department of State signed a Joint Proposal, which represents ten months of hard work on the siting of the transmission line that will connect South Fork Wind to the Long Island Power Authority grid.
Judith Hope, founder of Win With Wind, said: “The Beach Lane landing site is clearly the least disruptive location along the south shore for East Hampton Town. The wind project is an important step in mitigating our warming and rising seas.”
The NYS Public Service Commission transmission siting process for the South Fork will now enter its next phase, which involves the submission of written testimony from parties to the proceeding. A final decision on the transmission line is expected by first quarter 2021.
